Ibrahim Foday, an ace reporter with The Exclusive newspaper on Sunday, 12th June, 2011, stabbed to death by some youths residing at Kossoh Town in Western Area rural District.

The prolific writer who until his death was residing at K5 Grafton Police Barracks met his untimely death over a community land dispute between Kossoh Town and Grafton town.

Preliminary investigations conducted by various journalists who went to the scene report that three people inflicted multiple wounds on Ibrahim Foday.

Among the perpetrators is a Sierra Leone Police Officer attached to the OSD at Jui by the name Barthez. Another is the driver of the Kossoh Town headman named Tunde, the third perpetrator is yet to be identified. The three alleged perpetrators are currently walking free as the Police are yet to arrest them.

According to one youth on the ground, the whole incident started just after a meeting between the two leaders of the communities to find a settlement to the said land dispute that has been going on for sometime now. The source continued that after reaching an agreement for each community youth to share and protect their own boundaries, youths of Kossoh town then started a riot with Grafton youths as the latter run away. Ibrahim Foday who was then called to witness the incident as chairman of Grafton youth organization was then targeted by Kossoh town youths because according to them, he was the leading figure. It was during this tussle in which Ibrahim was unable to run for his dear life that some Grafton youths including those mentioned above stabbed him to death. One youth reported that Ibrahim Foday was targeted because he was taking photos of the incident as he was a journalist. Another youth boss, Bakay, also received stabbed wounds on his body.

Meanwhile, the SLP has conducted massive investigation of house breaking incident at the site were the riot took place at Grafton.

However, residents are complaining that the actual perpetrators have not been arrested. In addition, the SLP has reportedly arrested some people connected to the murder incident but community people are requesting the OSD to arrest the Kossoh youths who committed the crime rather than those at Grafton that are in grief. Some of those arrested are the disabled who are living and working in that community.
